AI risk management

Understand potential harms, choose proportionate responses, and track what remains.

Turn uncertainty into decisions.

Risk work becomes useful when it describes a believable event in a specific setting. Replace broad concerns with scenarios that a business owner and technical team can examine together. Connect every chosen response to a person, a verification step, and a review date.

You do not need to read everything in order. Choose a question that resembles your work, follow the guide, and try the exercise with a fictional example or an authorized review of your own systems.

A SUGGESTED ROUTE

Build understanding, one step at a time.

  1. 01

An impact assessment starts with people. ↗

Ask who could be affected, how the system changes a decision, and what would make its use unacceptable.

  2. 02

Write risks people can make decisions about. ↗

A good risk register explains a scenario, a consequence, and an accountable response. It does not need theatrical scoring.

  3. 03

Buying an AI service also buys dependencies. ↗

Ask how the service behaves, what the contract covers, and what you will do when either changes.
